I downloaded the shairpoint files and also checked some torrent file posted here and I can say that GameData_9_aa is definitely missing. That maybe explains why some textures in the game seem to be missing. Some objects are just plain black. I appreciate the contributions in this thread, currently the game doesn't seem to be actually playable with the provided files unfortunately.

There are 2 mirrors for BG3.. and now uploading the newer build.

Installing it with GameData_9_aa seems to fix the missing textures issue at the starter area. Haven't actually played the game yet. I'd be interested what the full list of files is that are supposed to be there for the Installer because I think it's a bit weird that there's no error that a file is missing.

Also I'm not sure how these files change with different game versions. Are they always the same and patches only add additional files? Would explain why some filenames end with "ab" instead of "aa"

These files are the data of the game. They are copied to the game directory with their final name *.pak. When there are files ending with ab, ac, … they are concatenated to form the final file when it's bigger than 4 GB. Also there is no check for errors in the postinstall script that does the copy.

GOG Mac installers are awful. They don't follow the regular format of .pkg files and leave a lot of stuff in the temporary directory where they are uncompressed (for example dlc are copied and not moved contrary to the main game). So if you install on a different disk than the system disk, you still need the full free space on your system disk. Or use the pkg2app application which does the install better (it uncompresses the files in their target directory but you still need more space for install when there are dataxxx files because it uses the GOG postinstall script to copy (and not move) them but at least it removes them at the end.

To those who were asking, the game supports both Intel and ARM Macs (there are program files for each platform) and needs Catalina as a minimum MacOS version (which doesn't work on Apple Silicon anyway).

The english .pkg was uploaded at a later time. Download that and install w/ pkg2app.

You always run the basic pkg to install the thing.
baldur_s_gate_3_english_4_1_1_3735951.pkg is the one here

Why don't you use an external HDD? I'm playing it from a 4TB spinning rust USB drive and the game runs great.

I installed it on m1 pro mac - there was an error on loading saying cant load menu from the mode and telling me to clear all mods. Googled it and found ImprovedUI.pak and ModFixer.pak mods - they fixed the error but now the screen is stuck at 100% while loading where tips keep rotating without game to get start.
