Mac mini M1 user with clean Sonoma installed, not having any issues with any of the updates. I always redownload the entire game when there is an update. Before installing them I always change the name of the Larians folder inside Documents with my saves, and then use an unistaller application like AppCleaner to make sure I delete the game properly.
Then after first launch of the game with the menu on screen, I quit the game and rename the original folder with my files on it. Hope this helps.

Just wait because patch 5 has been released today. For torrent you may ask Ramzes, he is also uploading them in rutracker.

It seems that patch 5 for Mac is not ready yet.
We will have to wait.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I've been trying for days on my Mac M1 Sonoma, which is brand new. Never had a BG3 install, but keeps getting the above error. Been trying out all the suggestions I could find online, like deleting the modsettings.lsx, but it still continues. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Any help? Do I have to download an earlier version? Using the latest v3956130.

I don't know how I made it. My mac auto updated itself in the night, I play the game in the morning and it worked. Then everything went wrong. I am now back to Ventura and the game is working. It is not hard for mac to downgrade, you may try this.

does anyone having the issue where the game lunch and upon loading to 100% it just crashes the Mac?
I am running MacOS14 and downloaded the latest version from @zorglub8778 installed the English and right after the Delux package.
not sure what am I missing.
read a lot of similar issues with Steam/GOG on PC where they are disabling the floating lunch menu but dont have that option in this case.

Wait does it fully working for you?

I tried on my other MAC M1 Pro with the previous MacOS on it, for some reason the graphics was all messed up - like couldn’t see the map environment right, the player was missing like all the facial hair and some of the enemies could not be seen, at another try the background music wasn’t working….
I’m so puzzled by that - and I really want to finally get this game going!

Sounds like the textures weren't fully installed - BG3 is pretty big for average Mac storage so it's advisable to have an external hard drive or clear up whatever space you need. That does mean you'll probs have to reinstall - might be worth waiting for the patch 5 release for Mac coming (hopefully) in the near future. Otherwise you'll only end up re-installing *that* too when it comes around - but I wouldn't blame you for wanting to start sooner rather than later.

Latest release already version 4.1.1.4251417 - patch5 hotfix4

Hopefully they've fixed the insane lag where everything stalls for minutes on end, NPCs stop moving, companions stay still and can't interact with anything... Anybody else had this issue? It's been bugging me since patch 3, still wasn't fixed on 4.1.1.4216792, even though they claimed it was fixed in patch 5.. but maybe this latest hotfix 5 is what they meant.. patch notes aren't very clear on it.

Anybody got a link per chance?

If this doesn't work I'm gonna port my save over to my PC because there's apparently a fix using ScriptExtender (Windows only

), just run some Lua scripts and it clears out duplicated junk in some database somewhere. Probably has something to do with my saves, although people are reporting it's happening on fresh installs too. Then just gonna send my save games back over to the Mac. Fingers crossed.
